Recently, I reached a milestone. My coworkers called me a real New Yorker. I've been here since 2007, so I suppose I've put my time in. Being in a city with great cuisine and night life, there are endless possibilities to every evening. Cut-off jean shorts are still going strong. Pairing them with a dressier top will certainly jazz up your look.

Sometimes fashion can be like cooking: a dash of oregano, a pinch of salt. I usually like to guesstimate when I cook. It makes it enjoyable and over time I am better at figuring out what I like together. I relish dressing in the same manner. I don't think it's important to match perfectly or follow all of the dressing rules of the time. As we all know, white after Labor Day is 100% ok. My philosophy is: If you like it, wear it. Everyone benefits from being themselves and wearing whatever you fancy. Gold, sparkles, sequins, all black! Wear what you like. You'll feel more confident in your clothes and look even better for it.

Last October, I went to Brooklyn's Fashion Week(End) to see Spring/Summer 2014 Collections. The atmosphere was quite different from Lincoln Center, but it did showcase some great designers. One designer I particularly loved was Trash by Angela Breit. She didn't exhibit your typical everyday outfit, but there was something exciting about her designs. Designers like Cynthia Rowley and Clover Canyon are constantly coming out with fun prints and different materials like neoprene. Trash is right up there with their bold prints using images like superheroes, gorillas, bananas and cigarettes. The collection is a bit more edgy; however, you aren't likely to see anyone out in the same garment because she only creates 4-5 pieces of each garment, the prices are lower than luxury designer prices and it's at the forefront of fashion!
I'm not the best run-way photographer. See pictures of part of the collection below from the bemytrash.com site!
